This year promises an unforgettable, synchronized celebration of Black liberation, resilience, and creative excellence through unmatched musical lineups, intergenerational fellowship, and a sacred reflection on our shared journey.

The Spirit of June 19: A Texas Legacy

Juneteenth holds a uniquely sacred place in the Lone Star State; it was on June 19, 1865, more than two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation, that Major General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, to finally enforce the freedom of 250,000 enslaved African Americans. Originating right here in Texas before evolving into a historic national holiday, Juneteenth serves as a powerful symbol of perseverance, the enduring pursuit of true equality, and the absolute triumph of the human spirit over systemic oppression.

To help you map out your holiday, KTSU 90.9 FM has compiled the complete official breakdown of both premier community celebrations below. Choose your destination, wear your finest outfits, and prepare to immerse yourself in the culture!
