The Day That MusiCares: KTSU 90.9 FM Joins Forces with Feed the Hunger to Feed Sunnyside Children

Houston, TX April 25, 2025 – The Recording Academy’s non-profit organization, MusiCares, held their annual day of service in partnership with Hope City Church and Feed the Hunger to combat food insecurity impacting children of the Sunnyside community in Houston, TX.

The staff of KTSU 90.9, the official media partner for the Texas chapter of MusiCares, and their A.C.C.E.S.S. program students joined forces with MusiCares and community volunteers for Feed the Hunger’s food Packathon event.

Feed the Hunger is a non-profit, Christian-based mission organization that internationally feeds at-risk children and families.

Volunteers of all ages made a tremendous impact, assembling 10,080 nutritious food packs and feeding 42 children for an entire academic school year.

Those attending the MusiCares event expressed gratitude for the opportunity to be a part of something bigger than themselves, making a difference in the lives of those whose voices go unheard.

“This event is fantastic because it’s an opportunity for us to give back. It’s always a blessing to be a blessing,” Gene Moore, Vice President of the MusiCares Texas chapter said.

The day was filled with music, philanthropy, and fellowship, fostering connection among the community in an effort to change the lives of vulnerable children and families on The Day That MusiCares.
