Gregg Leakes, the husband of Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes, died Wednesday due to colon cancer. He was 66 years old.
Longtime family friend Ernest Dukes confirmed news of his death in a statement that read, in part, “The Leakes family is in deep pain with a broken heart. After a long battle with cancer, Gregg Leakes passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by all of his children, very close loved ones and wife Nene.”
The statement went on to say that the family is asking for peace, prayers and privacy as they go through this difficult time.
Bravo executive Andy Cohen posted his condolences on social media, saying he is “heartbroken over the passing of Gregg Leakes,” a wonderful man whom he jokingly called “Pastor Leakes.” Cohen also praised Gregg for being a strong voice of reason who commanded great respect among the entire #RHOA team.
Fans were able to see much of Gregg’s battle with the disease unfold on the reality show, in which he appeared on for 12 seasons, alongside his wife.
Gregg was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2018.
Rest in Heaven, sir. You will be truly missed.
