Sinbad, the self-proclaimed Godfather of clean comedy is at home recovering from a stroke, according to his family.

The 64-year-old was released from the hospital and his family says that he is on the road to recovery.

“It is out of sincere love that we share Sinbad, our beloved husband and father, is recovering from a recent stroke,” the family said in a statement released to the Associated Press. “Sinbad is a light source of love and joy for many generations. While he is beginning his road to recovery, we are faithful and optimistic that he will bring laughter into our hearts soon.”

Sinbad received stardom in the 90s as a stand-up comedienne and later on the hit shows A Different World and The Sinbad Show.

He later reached superstardom on the big screen, appearing in films The First Kid, Jingle All the Way, and Houseguest to name a few.

Celebrities have flooded social media to send their love and prayers.

Comedian Sheri Shepherd wrote, “Let’s keep Sinbad in our prayers! He’s an icon in the comedy world, brilliantly funny & a genuinely nice guy! Get well @SinbadBad! #Sinbad.”
