KTSU To Honor The 100th Birthday of Miles Davis

KTSU has long been recognized as Houston’s premier destination for jazz music. Because of that unique distinction, there is only one place listeners turn to celebrate one of the greatest icons in music history — Miles Davis.

On May 26, KTSU will honor the life and artistry of Miles Davis, who was born on that date in 1926. While celebrations will take place across Houston, throughout the country, and around the world, KTSU will provide its own unforgettable tribute with nearly seven hours of continuous Miles Davis music.

“The impact and influence of Miles Davis on jazz and music as a whole cannot be overstated,” said Devan Wade, host of The Chill, heard Monday through Thursday from 6–10 p.m. “From cool jazz and modal jazz to fusion and beyond, Davis consistently pushed creative boundaries, inspiring generations of musicians and leaving an undeniable mark on jazz, hip-hop, rock, R&B, and contemporary music. His fearless spirit of innovation continues to influence artists around the world to this day.”

To honor more than five decades of musical brilliance, KTSU 90.9 FM will celebrate the birthday of Miles Davis on May 26 with a full day dedicated to his legendary music and enduring legacy. The celebration will culminate with an afternoon and evening of uninterrupted Miles Davis music in all its forms, beginning at 2 p.m. with The Jazz Club hosted by Kyle Turner and continuing through The Chill with Devan Wade at 6 p.m.

Join KTSU on May 26 for a historic celebration of the life, music, and genius of Miles Davis.
