KTSU Sports Talk, a local KTSU 90.9FM radio show, has been recognized by prominent Black publication, The Houston Defender, for providing quality sports programming and fostering a space for Black voices in the Houston community.

The show, which airs Saturdays from 9-10am and is hosted by radio and sports journalism veterans Devan Wade, Kevin “Silver Fox” Allen and Ralph Cooper, has been praised for its expertise, passion, and deep connection to the community.

Devan Wade describes the show to The Defender as “a sort of a barbershop conversation for the city of Houston, we talk about everything from Texas Southern to the pros and national sports stories. It’s a catch-all where we talk about anything and everything.”

The article highlights not only the hosts’ knowledge and passion for sports, but also the show’s commitment to providing a platform for listeners to call in and share their opinions. “They become a part of the show in a major way,” Wade said. “A lot of these callers don’t have the opportunity to get on the airwaves anywhere else. That’s important that we are here.”

The Houston Defender also recognizes the unique space that KTSU Sports Talk occupies in the Houston media landscape, praising the “chemistry between the three hosts and the connection with their listeners.”

KTSU is proud to provide a platform for expression, diversity, and community uplift, and we are deeply grateful for the recognition from The Houston Defender.
