Say it ain’t so!!!! How are we going to live without our famous block of fried fish and our Lu-Ann platters?!!

The Coronavirus pandemic has thrown yet another punch at the Texas business community, but this time there is no bailout big enough to save the day.

The longtime family eatery Luby’s and its sister company, Fudruckers, announced they will be closing their doors for good.

As if taking away schools and casual hugs wasn’t enough, now COVID has taken away our nostalgia!!

Luby’s CEO and President Christopher J. Pappas said in a statement, “We believe that moving forward with a plan of liquidation will maximize value for our stockholders, while also preserving the flexibility to pursue a sale of the company should a compelling offer that delivers superior value be made.”

The parent company Luby’s Inc. shut down all operations on March 31 due to the coronavirus, and the 73-year-old Texas restaurant chain never recovered.

The 76 Luby’s locations and the 31 Fudruckers will now be added to growing list of businesses that have been shuttered and shattered by COVID-19.
