Da Camera Brings The Jack DeJohnette Trio to The Wortham Theater Center

A rare occurrence in the annals of improvisational artists who have graced the jazz scene in Houston finds drummer Jack DeJohnette coming to the Wortham Theater Center. Considered by many to be one of the most prolific drummers of his generation, DeJohnette’s career spans five decades of award winning contributions to jazz. Throughout his career, Jack has collaborated with some of the most notable musicians in jazz, including Miles Davis, Keith Jarrett, Chick Corea, Pat Metheny and a host of others. As a NEA Jazz Master and Grammy Award winner, DeJohnette continues a long-standing tradition of artistic impressionism at its best. His performance in Houston mirrors that tradition as he brings saxophonist Ravi Coltrane and bassist Matthew Garrison to Da Camera’s jazz series of concerts that offers a rare glimpse of phenomenal improvisational jazz. In addition, Coltrane and Garrison will also bring a heapinng helping of their own original compositions.
