It was a day filled with joy and celebration as America welcomed Joseph R. Biden as its 46th President of the United States.

At 78 years old, Biden became the oldest president to ever be sworn in.

History was also made on the Capitol steps as Kamala Harris became the first woman, first African American and first South Asian to be elected vice president.

It was a star-studded affair that brought Americans together for the first time in many months, following a tumultuous year of health and election-related disputes.

Singer Lady Gaga gave an impressive rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” followed by a poem by Poet Laureate Amanda Graham, who wowed the crowd.

Although there were many stellar performances, the fashions took center stage as Michelle Obama’s plum-colored ensemble designed by young black fashion designer Sergio Hudson created a stir on social media. In addition to Mrs. Obama, our new first lady Dr. Jill Biden and Vice President Harris also “came throughhhhh” with the outfits.

Superstars Katy Perry and John Legend closed out the night with Legend singing Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good,” and Perry giving a stellar light show while performing her hit song “Fireworks.”

Happy New Era, America!!!!
